Mr Simphiwe Tshume – Senior Software Architect

Simphiwe Tshume is responsible for the Teleweaver architecture. He has extensive experience in Java software development. He has previously worked as a Senior Software Developer and a Team Lead for nine years at Camara Consulting, Metropolitan Life and INTEC Telecoms in Cape Town. 

Mr Lindikaya Ntshinga – Senior Software Developer

Lindikaya Ntshinga is responsible for the design and development of applications for Teleweaver. He has worked in the IT industry for ten years for leaders such as Microsoft (Government Solutions Specialist) and IBM (Senior IBM Websphere Developer). He is driven by a passion for technology and how it can be applied for social impact, having started Zazi Foundation, an NGO that uses technology to solve social problems in 2008.

Mr Michael Appelt – Senior Software Developer

Michael Appelt is responsible for the core services of Teleweaver. He has been involved in an extensive range of IT Projects since 1987 in Switzerland and South Africa. He has occupied various roles from programmer to analyst and business analyst. He has also been involved in R&D projects in South Africa.

Mr Mosiuoa Tsietsi – Software Developer

Mosiuoa Tsietsi is the telecommunications integration specialist for Reed House Systems. He is also the Technical Lead of the Convergence Research Group in the Telkom Centre of Excellence at Rhodes University. He has six years experience in developing real-time multimedia applications in converged environments. 

Mr Ron Wertlen – Technical Lead*

Ron Wertlen plans the technical strategy and manages the day to day technical activities at Reed House Systems. He is an African Internet entrepreneur, who develops and researches innovative ways of harnessing the Internet to improve Africans' way of life. Ron has extensive experience in the Internet economy, having worked on developing and researching intelligent web systems in the USA and Germany for ten years. He is involved in an Internet startup, eKhaya ICT and is the founder of the Village Scribe Association. 

Professor Alfredo Terzoli – Executive Lead*

Alfredo Terzoli oversees Reed House Systems in an executive capacity. Originally a solid state physicist, he worked in the IT industry for several years (Honeywell and Snamprogetti) before returning to academia. He is the Head of the Telkom Centre of Excellence in Distributed Multimedia at Rhodes University and the Research Director of the Telkom Centre of Excellence in ICT for Development at the University of Fort Hare. Alfredo has extensive experience in managing long term, multi- actor research initiatives, research and teaching.

Dr Mamello Thinyane - Research Lead*

Mamello is responsible for the academic liaisons of Reed House Systems. He is the Head of the Telkom Centre of Excellence in ICT for Development at University of Fort Hare and has extensive experience in building advanced systems to support the harvesting and protection of indigenous knowledge. He is involved in the eSkills initiative by the Department of Communication equipping South Africans with the knowledge needed for the Information Society. 

Dr Hannah Thinyane – Operations and Mobile Devices Lead

Hannah Thinyane manages the daily operations of Reed House Systems. She has many years of experience in similar roles, for example having coordinated the capacity building partnership between Rhodes University and the University of Namibia. Hannah contributes extensive knowledge in the area of mobile devices and is also the leader of the Mobile Research Group in the Telkom Centre of Excellence.

Ms Susan Hansen – Product Lead

Susan Hansen is responsible for optimising the development of Teleweaver to meet the requirements of the developers community, the user community (e.g. the Mbashe community) and the clients (e.g. Government and private companies). Prior to joining the team at Reed House Systems, she was a researcher in the User Experience Group at CSIRO Australia for four years working on designing, implementing and evaluating telemedicine systems for rural and regional Australia.

Ms Sibukele Gumbo – Siyakhula Living Lab Liason

Sibukele Gumbo manages the relationship between Reed House Systems and the Siyakhula Living Lab. She is the Project Lead of the Siyakhula Living Lab Management Unit and has a co-ordinating role at the University of Fort Hare Telkom Centre of Excellence. Her main areas of academic interest are in ICT for development and networking. 

Mr. Eetu Vainio – Web Developer

Eetu Vainio is the co-web developer for Reed House Systems. Mr. Vainio also works for a Finnish IT consulting company and has experience translating technical documents and user interfaces.

Mr. Ville Kalima – Web Developer

Ville Kalima is the co-web developer for Reed House Systems. He has previously worked at the Helsinki City Public Works Department where he was involved in their intranet design and database management. His current interests include web development (PHP, HTML, CSS) and Linux systems.

Mr. Aksu Weide – Marketing

Aksu Weide provides marketing and social media strategic advice to Reed House Systems. 

Mr. Juha Pesonen – Marketing

Juha Pesonen provides marketing and social media strategic advice to Reed House Systems.
